Ather Energy has officially announced the launch of three new electric scooters on August 11th, as revealed through a teaser video shared on the company’s social media platforms. The teaser emphasizes “New scooters. New features.” Among the upcoming models, one will be the Ather 450S, positioned as the most affordable variant in Ather’s product lineup. There is speculation that Ather might unveil an updated version of the 450X or introduce a 450X variant without the Pro Pack and with a smaller battery.
The new Ather 450S is priced at Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru, excluding state subsidies). This pricing places it directly in competition with electric scooters like the Ola S1, Vida V1 Pro, and TVS iQube S. Visually, the Ather 450S bears resemblance to the 450X.

The significant change lies in the battery pack, with the 450S featuring a smaller 3kWh battery that promises a range of 115km on a single charge. The claimed top speed for this electric scooter is 90km/h. In comparison, the top-end Ather 450X variant is equipped with a 3.7kWh battery pack that offers a range of 146km on a full charge. Ather stated that the new 450S will come with the same set of features found on the 450X, including a 7-inch TFT touch-enabled console. However, it is likely to lack the connected technology and Google Maps integration. The underlying structure and performance of the scooter remain unchanged.
In July 2023, Ather Energy achieved notable sales, selling 7,858 units of electric scooters, marking a significant YoY growth of 229% and a MoM growth of 21%. In June 2023, the company sold a total of 6,479 units. Ather Energy also recently partnered with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to expand its EV charging infrastructure. Through this collaboration, Ather aims to utilize BPCL’s extensive network of over 21,000 fuel stations across the nation to facilitate the installation of Ather’s public fast-charging Grid.
