Japanese automaker, Suzuki has launched the made-in-India Fronx crossover in the South African market. The crossover is available in two variants – GL and GLX – and in a single powertrain option. The Suzuki Fronx in the South African market is available at a starting price of R279,000 (INR 12.23 lakh).
The South Africa-spec Fronx crossover is powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that powers the Brezza, Grand Vitara, Ertiga and the XL6 in India. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox. It is capable of producing 102bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. This is the biggest difference between the India-spec and the South African-spec Fronx crossover.
The Suzuki Fronx top-end GLX variant shares most of the features with the India-spec model. It is fitted with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The crossover is fitted with head-up display, automatic climate control, a 360 degree camera, a wireless charger, auto-dimming IRVM, and ambient lighting.
For safety & security, the new Suzuki Fronx gets six airbags, cruise control, automatic headlamps, hill hold control, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX and ESP (Electronic Stability Programme). The styling of the crossover is identical to the model on sale in India; however, the African-spec model is now finished in a new orange exterior paint option.
